Project overview
The museum PSTN build is focused on analogue service behaviour, period-correct dialling support, vanity numbering, and the practical business of making historic Australian telephone gear do something more interesting than sit there looking smug.
Current state
This project is aimed at giving handsets, payphones, and exchange-adjacent equipment a living environment, with enough authenticity to feel right without turning the place into a regulatory crime scene.
Museum intent
The aim is not nostalgia for its own sake. It is to preserve behaviour, infrastructure, and context, so the hardware can be understood as part of a living system rather than a mute prop.
